Russell’s Marker Not Enough Against Penn State Schuylkill

HARRISBURG, PA. –Central Penn’s Women’s Soccer team struck last but couldn’t come back in a narrow 2-1 defeat against Penn State Schuylkill Friday afternoon at Skyline Sports Complex.  

GAME SUMMARY

Central Penn (3-2-1, 2-0 in Conference) and Penn State Schuylkill went back and forth on Friday afternoon, with the Lady Lions drawing first blood and escaping with the non-conference victory over the Lady Knights.

The away team wasted little time getting on the board scoring at the 19:00 minute mark and scoring again at 29:49 with goals from Zoe Gannon and Mackenzie Miller to give Penn State Schuylkill a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Lady Knights applied constant pressure on the Lady Lions trying to fight back into the game. Central Penn’s first and final goal would come just a few minutes into the second half on a goal by Teagan Russell (47:25). The Lady Knights pressed the visitors hard to try and get the tying goal, but the Lady Lions were able to secure the 2-1 victory.
