Lady Knights end losing streak

The Central Penn Lady Knights volleyball team entered their Sept. 17 match in the midst of a five-game losing streak and looked to turn the season around against the Baltimore City Community College Panthers. Behind strong attacks from outside hitters Bachelle Upshur (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Danielle Crone (New Oxford, Pa.), the Lady Knights controlled the first two sets of the match, winning 25-19 and 25-14.

The visiting Panthers came into the third set with no plans to go down easy. The Panthers took an early nine-point lead behind the blocking of Michelle Wright and hitting of Jasmine Ashe. Central Penn regrouped after a quick timeout and began chipping away at the deficit. With the support of Janay Nelson (Clinton, Md.), Upshur and Crone continued leading the Lady Knight attack with several blocks and kills. With the game tied at 20-20, the Knights controlled the momentum and took the third set 25-22, winning the match 3-0.

The 2-6 Lady Knights travel to HACC tonight at 7 p.m. to take on their cross-river rivals
