Central Penn’s Connor Graham named Baseball Player of the Year

Central Penn College senior Connor Graham was named the Maryland AAU Baseball Player of the Year award winner, presented by the Maryland district of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States (AAU).

“I would like to thank Maryland AAU Governor Ben Dubose, Baseball Director Ray Albaugh and the district executive committee, but especially my family and all my coaches and teammates through the years,” said the CPC outfielder after receiving the award at the 35th Maryland AAU all sports banquet in front of a crowd of 1,500 AAU athletes, coaches and volunteers.

SUCCESSFUL SPRING AND SUMMER

Graham, from Dunkirk, Md., emerged as a dominant force for Central Penn College in USCAA D2 baseball during the spring. Following a scorching season for the Knights when he batted .414 and hit five home runs, Graham spent the summer playing in Spain and Scotland against Major League Baseball© Academy and Olympics national teams and athletes.

Connor Graham started every game at centerfield for the AAU USA international collegiate team in the elite summer college baseball program and led the team in:

  • runs scored (10)
  • contact pct. (.906)
  • pitches/plate appearance (3.76)
  • sacrifice flies (t-1)
  • batting average on balls in play (.500)
  • technical runs created/plate appearance (.344)

WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION

He was named the AAU collegiate offensive MVP, opponent’s choice all-star, runner-up IMPACT player of the year, and the player of the week once.

Beginning the summer with the Maryland RBI Advanced Skills Development Team, the 21-year-old slashed .367/.486/.467 (.953) in the AAU Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Wood Bat League. He affirmed his presence with a clutch two-out game-winning, walk-off RBI single in the league championship game. He was named to represent Maryland RBI on the Mid-Atlantic League’s All-Star team.

During his Central Penn junior season, Connor Graham was named All-America Honorable Mention and First Team Academic All-America, Central Penn College Student-Athlete of the Year and Knightly News Collegiate Athlete of the Year. He was named the Player of the Month once and Player of the Game twice.

“It was extremely humbling to be up there,” added the accounting major. “I’m looking forward to the future of the sport and AAU Baseball. I’m really looking forward to my senior collegiate season for the Knights.”
