Kay Kirby and Aubrey McGlynn

Central Penn would like to recognize Kay Kirby and Aubrey McGlynn as on of our Co-Female Athletes Of The Week!

Coach Grubesky's nomination:

Our coaching staff has once again decided to nominate two players for Player of the Week.

In a tough lopsided 8-0 loss at home to an excellent Christendom team, there was a silver lining for the Central Penn Lady Knights because two players that have shown continuous improvement this season were able to our to our team help limit the number of goals that we gave up in the second half through hard work, tough defending, and a never give up attitude in the midfield.

Those midfielders are Aubrey McGlynn and Kay Kirby and both deserve recognition as Co-Players of the Week for their efforts this week.

Aubrey’s athletic background is in lacrosse, but she wanted to play soccer at Central Penn. From the time she arrived on campus, she has worked hard learning soccer while concentrating on a rigorous PTA curriculum. Aubrey started her soccer career at Central Penn during our non-traditional (spring) season. She worked with our coaching staff and her teammates to become proficient with her first touch and basic soccer techniques.

This season she has already made a difference by making a nifty pass to record an assist in her very first college game.

Kay Kirby is in her second season with our women’s team and has continue to improve, especially when our coaching asked her to play in the midfield the past two games. Kay has always brought a strong work ethic and a team first mentality to our program.

According to Coach Grubesky, “Aubrey and Kay are consistently the first players at practice and are always coachable. Our coaching staff appreciates their willingness to keep working on their soccer skills.”

Coach Grubesky said, “Since we were playing with eight players in the second half, our coaching staff decided to ‘park the bus’ and try to limit Christendom from scoring even more goals. Even though our entire team battled for the entire game, Aubrey and Kay were instrumental to our defensive effort in the second half.”

“Working with our keeper, backline, and with Honestee Coldsmith in the midfield, Kay and Aubrey were able to stay compact, deny the Crusaders attackers space, and fill passing lanes. All of which helped our team try to prevent even more goals by the visiting team.”

Coach G. added, “Several times, Mady was able to distribute the ball by throwing it out to Aubrey and she was able to combine with Kay and Honestee to create a couple of counterattacks.”

Congratulations Kay and Aubrey, Go Knights!!
