Central Penn Esports Brings Home Second Rocket League Title with Playfly Division Championship Win
The Central Penn College Esports Rocket League team has done it again—bringing home their second Division championship title in program history! The roster of Logan Kibler, Sam Royer, and Connor Staub fought hard all season long and capped it off with a thrilling OT victory over Bluffton University (Ohio) in the finals.
Led by coaches Donnie Lewis and Jon Saurman, the team demonstrated unmatched resilience and determination throughout the season. Their commitment paid off in a big way, finishing the Spring season with an impressive 7-1 record. Fittingly, their only loss came earlier in the season against the same Bluffton team they defeated for the championship—proving their growth and grit when it mattered most.
“This group has poured so much time and energy into the program,” said coach Donnie Lewis. “It’s amazing to see it all come together in a moment like this. They earned it. This season really is bittersweet. We only had one loss on the season, and it was vs. this Bluffton team the very first game of the year. To be able to come back strong and beat this undefeated Bluffton team to bring home the championship is amazing. Our team had something special from the very beginning and it was obvious, but to be able to stick together and support each other for the entire season and finish this way is nothing short of special. I am truly grateful to have been a part of this run with this team.”
Coach Jon Saurman added, “The entire season went full circle, with the first and only team to beat us being Bluffton in our very first game together as a team. The guys pulled together with one goal in mind, which was to get a chance for a rematch, and they got it. That single goal carried us through the entire rest of season undefeated by any other team and carried us to the final game, the rematch against Bluffton… It wasn’t easy, but this time we were ready!”
Athletic Director Kasey Hicks praised the team's achievement, stating, “I’m proud of our student-athletes and our coaching staff. Their commitment to the program and each other is what makes this championship so special. This victory shows that hard work and dedication on any level can pay off in big ways.”
Please join us in congratulating Logan, Sam, Connor, and the entire Central Penn Esports program on this remarkable accomplishment. The future is bright for Esports at Central Penn!
