By: Diane McNaughton

(Summerdale, PA.) – Brian Osborne, Central Penn College’s men’s soccer coach, has garnered top honors as “Coach of the Year” by the USCAA DII. He received his award at a ceremony in Pittsburgh.

Osborne, a Trinity High School graduate who excelled in both soccer and track, is in his second year of coaching the Knights at Central Penn College.  The team plays at Skyline Sports Complex on City Island.

In his nomination, Athletic Director Kasey Hicks said, “In just two short seasons, he has turned the Knights into a consistent top 10 team. Coach Osborne has dedicated countless hours of recruiting to help build a strong program.”

She went on to note that Osborne “took a program that needed to be rebuilt, brought in talented student-athletes, and then challenged them athletically and academically. Due to his unmatched dedication, Coach Osborne's program is established as a top ESAC Championship contender and ranks among the top 10 in USCAA standings.”

Osborne has also coached several USCAA National All Americans.

In celebrating Osborne’s award, Hicks recalled her directive to Osborne when he was hired.

“I simply told him I was handing him a blank canvas and to paint his own picture.  It's safe to say, since then, he hasn't put down the brush. He has truly built a program that the entire campus can be proud of and he is not done yet. What he has been able to do with the Knights soccer program in two short years is nothing short of remarkable!”
