Late Goals Push Knights Past Mechanics
MEDIA, PA. – Central Penn's men's soccer team earns another conference win in a road battle winning 5-3 over rival Williamson Trade (6-4, 1-3 Conference) Sunday afternoon.
GAME SUMMARY
Central Penn (9-1-1, 4-0 Conference) just got a win against the Mechanics just nine days prior winning big 8-1 at Skyline Sports Complex. This would end up being a tougher battle even though the Mechanics were missing some key pieces to their roster.
Not long into the game, the Mechanics struck first at the 12:31 mark to take the 1-0 lead. The Knights then responded with a penalty kick goal at 22:47 by Jake Philippe. With just over three minutes left in the first half, Dylan Luong (41:44) would give us the 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Mechanics tried to get back into the game a few minutes into the second, but the Knights two scorers from the first half would be aggressive again as Jake Philippe (48:29) and Dylan Luong (51:48) scored their second goals of the game to extend the lead to 4-1. Even though we had a nice cushion at that point, by the 63rd minute of the game the Mechanics would add two goals to bring it to 4-3.
Just a few minutes later, Adam Youssef (65:35) would bring the lead to two 5-3 in what would be the final score of the game solidifying a solid road win for the Knights.
Goalie Andrew Hunter only allowed three goals and had three saves on six shots on goal.
