Cross Country Opens Season at Penn State Abington
HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA. – Central Penn's men's and women’s cross-country teams opened their 2024 campaigns at the Penn State Abington Invitational held Saturday Sept. 21.
RACE SUMMARY
For the men's 8K race, a familiar face made an instant impact, with Junior Jeremiah Fuller leading the way by placing as the team's top finisher in 65th place out of 119 total runners. Junior first year runner Bret Saveleski finished as the team’s second coming in at 86th. A pair of returners in Seth Parr (103rd) and Jimmy Hallinan (104th) picked up where they left off a year ago, crossing the line as the team's third and fourth finishers, respectively. Newcomers Jacob Donnelly and Kevin Roles rounded out the Central Penn contingency helping the team finish 14th overall out of 15 teams.
In the women's 6K event, it was rookie Juliette Summy crossing the line first for the Knights in 72nd place. Newcomer Mikayla Kirby was next in line, finishing in the final spot at 90 behind her teammate to complete the Central Penn group on the day.
With the first competition now under their belts, the Knights will return to action at the Penn State Brandywine Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5.
