Women's Soccer Recent Activity in the Community!
On Saturday, June 14th, Central Penn College Coach Rudy Grubesky and women’s soccer players, Mady Brymesser and Brianna Drayton, joined other volunteers in helping with the annual Central PA Walk for Water event at Oakside Community Park in Biglerville, PA.
The Central Penn women’s soccer team assisted in setting up games and crafts for the younger children and helped with photography duties during the 3.1-mile walk.
Millions of women and children walk over three miles daily to collect water. The walkers carried buckets of water to simulate the daily trek millions of people worldwide make every day.
Since 2001, Water Mission, a Christian engineering nonprofit, has served more than 8 million people in 60 countries through 3,000 projects, including building safe water solutions for people in developing countries, as well as helping in disaster areas.
There were 83 walkers and the group has raised approximately $54,000 in funds to help provide clean and safe water to people throughout the world. Their slogan is, “We walk, so others don’t have to.”
Coach Grubesky said, “Mady and Bri exemplify what we expect from our players and did a great job interacting with all the other volunteers, community groups, walkers, and first responders who were in attendance.”
According to the event organizer, Coach Kevin Taylor, “This past weekend we held our annual Central PA Walk for Water and were fortunate to have two Central Penn College soccer players donate their time and help us with our walk. Both ladies represented their team very well. We appreciated their help in setting up for the walk and taking photographs during the event.”
Coach G. added, “I was asked by Coach Taylor, a fellow soccer coach and friend, if our team could assist his group with this event. I am pleased when our team always steps up to help people in the Central Pennsylvania community when needed.”
