Women's Soccer Team Stays Involved in the Harrisburg Community

HARRISBURG, PA Recently, the Central Penn College Women’s Soccer team assisted the Harrisburg Heat Front Office administrators and their game day staff with a youth tournament for U-11 boys’ and girls’ teams. The team also volunteered to help with the Heat’s professional home games on December 21 and 22, 2024.

The Central Penn players and coaches supported the Heat staff with tournament logistics, such as reporting match scores and retrieving balls to return them to players and officials to restart the game as quickly as possible. At the pro team’s matches, the players also aided the Heat staff with the coordination of the frisbee toss and worked at the merchandise shop.

According to Coach Grubesky, “I am proud of our players for taking time to volunteer after a week of final exams and for postponing their holiday break to represent our program and to help the Harrisburg Heat.”

Grubesky said, I recently received the following quote for this article in a text from Heat President Kevin Healey in which he stated, “In December, we had several women from the Central Penn soccer team volunteer at our Harrisburg Heat professional soccer game. The young ladies were outstanding. Their work ethic, manners, and intelligence are a credit to themselves, their parents, the school, and certainly Head Coach Rudy Grubesky.”

Coach Grubesky added, “I really appreciate the partnership our Athletic Department has with Harrisburg Heat owner Carl Delmont, Kevin Healey, and Coach Pat Healey regarding summer camps and our annual Recruit Knight event. I am also glad that our players realize the importance of giving back to the Harrisburg community, in this case the Heat, when our assistance is requested. It was also an opportunity to be good role models for younger soccer players.”
