Lady Knights Unsuccessful in their First Conference Match
Front Royal, Va. - The Central Penn Lady Knights traveled to Christendom College in Virginia for their first Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) match of the year, but lost to the Lady Crusaders 3-0.
The visitors battled through injuries and having to play their second match in three days but came up short against an excellent Christendom team that has been the conference champions the past two years and was the USCAA runner-up in the national championship women’s soccer tournament last year.
The Lady Knights were defending the entire game against a side that plays exceptional one and two-touch soccer, especially after losing their leading scorer to injury.
Goalkeeper Madalyn Brymesser was unbelievable in goal for the Lady Knights recording thirty (30) saves on 33 shots on goal.
Coach Grubesky said, “I thought we played hard and learned a lot in this loss. Christendom put on a clinic today making it tough to defend their passing and off-the-ball movement. Our coaching staff was proud that our ladies never gave up, left it all on the field, and played their hearts out against a very tough team. Mady was absolutely amazing today and kept the game close.”
Assistant coach, Kayla Murren added, “Our players willingness to play through injuries and by playing with low roster numbers showed their commitment to their teammates and to our program.”
