Bio
Coach Alston enters his first year as the Knight's Head Head Men's Basketball Coach! He came to Central Penn College as a part-time Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for the 2023-24 season. Kenton was recently the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at Steelton-Highspire High School for two seasons (2021-22, 22-23). Prior to that, Coach Alston served as a Varsity Assistant Coach for two seasons at Bishop McDevitt High School (2013-14, 14-15) helping them win their first District 3 Championship in over 20 years.
He began his basketball playing career at Steel-High where Kenton and his teammates won three District III Championships (99, 00, 01) and one PIAA AAA State Championship (2000). For his success on the court, Kenton was named a three-time Conference All-Star, a three-time Patriot News Big 15 selection, and a 1,000 point scorer. Kenton continued his basketball playing career with the nearby Blue and White at Pennsylvania State University Harrisburg. During his collegiate basketball career, Kenton and his teammates won two Northeast Athletic Conference Championships. Additionally, he was a four-year team captain, four-time All-Conference selection (three-time First-Team All-NEAC, one Second-Team All-NEAC). In 2012, he was named Penn-State Harrisburg's Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Kenton ended his career as the schools all-time leader in points (Currently 2nd All-Time), rebounds (Currently 2nd All-Time), and blocked shots and currently still holds many records that led to him being inducted into the Inaugural Penn State Harrisburg Athletic Hall of Fame (2025).
Kenton is also is the founder/owner of Alston Performance which is a basketball training company in Central PA, he also is a Gold Licensed USA Basketball Coach.
Kenton brings a wealth of life and basketball experiences to our program. He proudly served our country both in the United States Marine Corps and the Army National Guard for thirteen years total. Kenton earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State Harrisburg in 2012 and a Masters in Sports Leadership from Duquesne University in 2015.
His Coaching Philosophy is: To create an environment that encourages student-athletes to learn and develop on and off the court. Hard work and preparation will be emphasized in order to put our program in the best position possible for success.
